Manchester - June 2023

Sky Garden and Lowry Hotel Afternoon Tea

Our Manchester Trip is on Thursday 15th June 2023 and comes in two parts - both venues close to Manchester centre - join us for either one or the other, or both.

The first is to visit the National Trust ‘Sky Garden’ that has been installed along the raised line of the old Castlefield Viaduct, which is located just a few minutes walk from Deansgate Station. Travel to here is by train. We plan to meet at Wigan Wallgate Station at 9:30 (with tickets already individually purchased) ready to catch the 9:39 Northern Train to Manchester Oxford Road. This route passes through Deansgate station, no changes or connections necessary.

If it is only the garden visit that interests you, you would then be free to enjoy Manchester’s opportunities for shopping and eating, before making your return train journey when you wish. While there is no charge for entry, it is however still necessary to reserve a garden place in advance, as visitor numbers are strictly limited.

The second part to the trip is an Afternoon Tea at the Lowry Hotel close to the City Centre. This is less than a mile from the Castlefield area, so within walking distance after the Garden visit. Again however, advance reservation to confirm numbers was required.

An additional option was originally offered, to attend just the Afternoon Tea complete with minibus transport from Wigan, however all available bus places already booked for this, so apologies but no further names being taken for this option.
