Topics covered this year : the Greek theatre (building and traditions). Greek tragedy . 3 Greek plays; Oedipus Rex, Medea, the Bacchae. Roman social life including birth, marriage, family life, houses, slavery, entertainment, funerals. The Acropolis (history and buildings).

We will be covering : Sparta, the Trojan War, Heinrich Schliemann, oral epic, the Iliad and Odyssey. Greek myths and legends, stories of early Rome, written epic; the Aeneid.
All are welcome. There is no need to have attended this year as it is a modular course.
