Wakefield & District

Welcome to Wakefield

ALL GROUPS, EVENTS AND MEETINGS ARE CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE DUE TO CORONAVRUS

Wakefield U3A (Charity number 1002486) was founded in 1983 and is part of a nationwide Charity. The U3A movement is open to retired and semi retired people with the time to come together to pursue their interests in a friendly and informal environment.

Wakefield U3A currently has a membership of more than 400 people who live in all areas of our district. Groups take place in many different venues to suit the activity or the size of the group. Some groups take place in the homes of members and leaders, others such as walking groups, bird watching etc have no need of a venue but agree meeting points. Any groups which may need specific facilities meet in village halls, sports clubs or community centres all around our area. Where possible we try to arrange venues accessible by public transport and the majority of our activities take place during the daytime.

We produce a monthly Newsletter which advises of other activities such as monthly Coffee Mornings with varied, interesting speakers, some coach outings and other social events during the year.

Annual membership currently costs £10, which entitles a member to join as many of our group activities as they wish (depending upon availability) Some groups may require an additional contribution towards the rental of premises.

As you can see our U3A is a local, friendly organisation run by members for its members and we would love you to join us.
