Walk report

AUTUMN TERM
7th Sept
We had a great walk starting at Temple Balsall. The weather was kind to us and after building up an appetite we had lunch at the Wilson's Arms in Knowle.

21st September.
Today we met at the Bear Inn, Berkswell and had an enjoyable walk through the footpaths, across the fields towards the edge of Tile Hill Village. It was a lovely morning and the Sun was out for most of the way. We then made our way back to the Bear Inn, About four miles in total. Normally we would have had lunch at the pub where we started, but the Bear is closed for refurbishment. So, we drove the short distance to The George in the Tree at Balsall Common. Everyone thought that their lunch was excellent!

5th October
What a lovely day for a walk! We met at the Fleur de Leys pub in Lowsonford. The walk was interesting, passing through beautiful countryside, fields and woodland and along bridal paths, then finally the canal towpath back to the pub for a very nice meal. About five miles.

19th October
Well they say that the sun shines on the righteous and it certainly shon on us today. We were a small but select band who started at the Arden Oak Harvester and into Sheldon Country Park, a hidden gem. We skirted the end of the runway, saw planes taking off and landing including the A380. Then after visiting Marston Green Station we crossed the park to the children's Farm, had a tea break and back to the Harvester. About 4.5 miles. A good lunch in good company.

2nd November
Even more sun than our last walk!
This morning we walked around Fillongley. The autumn colours were utterly stunning. Stopped by the old Fillongley Water Mill and then back to The Weavers Arms for lunch. I must say that the Weavers Arms was a real find, such good food! We all said we will go back to the pub for a meal again.

16th November
We must love Fillongley because today we were back!
Another nice walk around Fillongley. It started sunny, but we did have a couple of light showers. We stopped for a drink stop on the site of Fillongley Castle before making our way back again to the Weavers Arms. Again the food was great, a thoroughly good morning.

30th November
We must be really righteous as the Sun keeps shining!
What another great day for a walk. Fourteen members of the group started at Lavender Hall Park car park in Balsall Common, walked through some delightful countryside and circled round to the lakes in Berkswell. We had lunch at the Lavender Hall Fishery Cafe (I can thoroughly recommend the food and the value for money). A really nice walk of about four and a half miles.

14th December
Our Christmas Walk
With the Sun still shining on us, we had a short 1 hour walk around Elmdon, finishing at Penny's house, where a Christmas buffet was waiting.
Good Friends, Good Walks, Good Times.
Merry Christmas

11th & 25th January
Sorry no report as we were on holiday!

8th February
Kings Norton
Again we were lucky with the weather! We walked around Kings Norton and the Nature Reserve, stopping to look at the Church and the Old Grammar School, which was renovated after winning the Renovation Program on TV. Then a nice lunch at the Toby Carvery.

22nd February
Warwick, still lucky with the weather
Today we started at the racecourse with a guest walker, Hannah my Granddaughter, or at least some of us did! Before we started, Penny slipped and banged her head on the car door frame! TLC from other members helped, but she went off with June for a quiet coffee, whilst the rest of us enjoyed a walk along the Grand Union and back along the Avon. Although it was tipping it down in Solihull, we had no rain in Warwick! We had lunch at the Racehorse Pub which was great food at a reasonable price. Penny had recovered by the end of lunch, but has a bruise that would win prizes!

8th March
Mud, mud, glorious mud!!!
Well, we had a great walk around Earlswood, the lakes, the woods ending up at the Reservoir Pub for lunch. The Sun shone, it did not rain, but because we had a lot more rain since Mike recced the walk mid week, we waded our way through the mud to the pub! You can't stop the Wayfinders with a bit of mud!

22nd March
Rain stopped play!
Today's walk had to be cancelled - see you in a fortnight!

5th April
LUVERLLEY
This morning we had a lovely walk in the Spring Sunshine, the birds singing, the new lambs, the blossom.
About 4.5 miles finishing at the Black Boy for lunch.

19th April
Sad
By all accounts, it was a great walk, but sadly we did not go as our dog 'Flick' passed away, Flick had walked with us on many occasions and will be missed.

3rd May
Something fishy?
We started at the fishing pools in Shrewley, along he canal, (past the Army fishing contest) through the fields and back to the fishing centre for a very nice lunch, and sunshine all the way yet again!

17th May
You can't be righteous all the time!
It had to happen - washed out, walk cancelled!

31st May
Lovely walk - made up for last time!
We started at 'The Wharf' through the fields, along the canal and back to the pub for a nice lunch. just over four miles.

12TH July
Back again! First walk we have been able to attend for a couple of weeks!
A really nice walk starting from The Stag Inn at Offchurch (far side of Leamington Spa) followed by a very nice meal. Just about 5 miles, 4 styles!

23rd August
Well having had a couple of walks cancelled due to seriously inclement weather we are back with a bang!!!
Starting a Beoley, we had a lovely walk of nearly five miles including walking across the Edstone Aqueduct, which at 250 yards is the longest in England. Then a nice lunch at the Navigation Inn.

4th October
A really nice walk accompanied by three new members! Starting in Meriden at the Queen's Head, we walked 4.5 miles in lovely sunshine, through lovely countryside, finally arriving back at the pub for a very nice meal.

1st November
A great walk from The West Midlands Golf Club, around Hampton in Arden. Returning to the Golf Club for lunch and watching the golfers miss the 18th green and hit them into the lake!

29th November
A lovely sunny day! We walked from the Fishery near Berkswell Station through some lovely countryside and back to the Fishery Cafe for lunch.
