THE UNEXAMINED LIFE IS NOT WORTH LIVING

ARE NEVER TOO OLD TO SET A NEW GOAL OR DREAM A NEW DREAM

Members of Solihull U3A are a friendly bunch who pride themselves on being trail-blazers. We meet at the WI Hall on Warwick Road (opposite House of Fraser).

Annual membership is only £30 and we have no weekly meeting charge.

The word “University” is used in its original sense - people coming together to pursue and share learning.

We were the first U3A Group to be formed in Solihull, thirty years ago, and we have since gone from strength to strength to become the vibrant and thriving group we are today.

Anyone in their Third Age in the Solihull area may join us. No qualifications are required and none are given. All you need is enthusiasm to share interests and skills, and to learn new ones, and the benefits will be self-fulfilment rather than degrees.

The “Third Age” refers to the period in life after the ‘First Age’ of childhood dependence and the ‘Second Age’ of full-time employment and parental responsibility, when time can be found for personal interests and creativity.

Such has been the success of U3A in Solihull, we are one of the few groups to still have a vibrant and entertaining weekly core meeting where both members and outside speakers contribute to our interesting programme of Monday talks. (See Monday Talks tab, and then reports link in top RH corner) We have excellent audio-visual facilities.

Solihull U3A (University of the Third Age) is one of over 1,000 U3As nationally with a combined membership exceeding 365,000. We are a growing, dynamic and outward-looking movement which has a positive and creative approach to retirement. We aim to take part with others in informal learning and leisure activities - thus providing an opportunity to remain active and furthering good mental and physical health.

We still try to follow the original ethos of U3A where the members share their knowledge and skills with the rest of the membership. Of course, you do not have to come every Monday if this is too much for you and contrary to rumours, you DO NOT have to give a talk if you don't want to! But you might enjoy it! If you are worried about using the computer to give a presentation, fear not, we will help you! (See Silver Surfers, on the groups page)

We have a busy social calendar and a wide range of active interest groups. Please explore the links on this website to get a flavour of the activities offered by both the Monday morning meetings and our Interest Groups.

If you want to find out more about the history and ethos of U3A please click on the tab on the corner which will allow you to access the U3A National Site.

Currently, Solihull U3A had a membership of over 150 pre Covid, but now our membership is around 75 and growing, so at present there is no waiting list. The annual membership is currently set at £30, there is no meeting fee.

{If you are interested in joining us please click on the CONTACT tab. Alternatively why not come to one of our Monday morning meetings at 10:00 a.m. at the W.I. Hall on the Warwick Road? (opposite House of Fraser). See if you like us and have a chat with one of the committee!}
