Ukes Aloud, led by Graham Harding, had pleasure in presenting Obelisk House with £300 in November, which was 2022’s proceeds from gigs. We all thoroughly enjoy ‘playing out’, visiting a variety of venues, in fact, anywhere we’re invited!

This was followed up in 2023 with just under £500 being donated to Northants Air Ambulance service., and a lesser amount to prostate cancer uk.

The Ukulele Workshop now meets fortnightly, on Tuesday mornings between 10.00 and 12.00 in the hall of the Holy Trinity church in Edinburgh Road, Northampton.

The sessions are informal sing and strum occasions, covering a multitude of old favourite songs, with new numbers being added each session.

The members of the group have varying levels of ability, we try to keep the songs accessible by all in terms of simplicity of playing, increasing the range of chords used as required, along with some explanation of simple musical ideas. The group works towards live performances for those who wish to do so, but there is no obligation to do this if just social playing is more your thing.

More information on some of the theoretical points can be found at the following webpage: www.ukesaloud.wordpress.com under the GMT section on the site.
