Long Walking.

Long walking GroupWalk to Beinn na Drise
Monday 27th November was cold with the moon setting and the sun rising as we made our way to the Eas Fors car park. There were seven in all and we headed up to Beinn na Drise at 09:40. The path initially was straightforward and rose steeply following the old drover’s route. It then narrowed into well worn sheep paths and continued ascending above the Laggan Burn. After two hours we stopped for a break and, after discussion, four of the party set off for the top, three returned to lower ground.
Views from the summit were stunning in all directions. It was sunny with a few clouds and a slight haze. Views across to Ben More and the hills on the south shore of Loch na Keal, and out to the islands of Ulva, Gometra and Treshnish were stunning. We could see Loch Frisa, the Sound of Mull and the hills of Morvern.
The descent was quick and we regrouped near the abandoned sheep fank and the old village of Bruach Mhòr. We were back at the car park by 15:30 and discussed plans for future outings. As we drove home, the sun was setting and the full moon was rising, a perfect long day of walking for this newly formed group.
