Welcome to Mull and Iona u3a
Who are We?
We are an active group of people who meet during the day to hold lively socials, listen with excellent speakers, enjoy trips out and participate in many other actives. As well as this we have access to u3a Scotland resources which offers a whole lot of extras as well.
Our members tend to be retired, in part time work, or no longer involved in child raising or full time career, and available during the daytime. There is no Upper or Lower age limit to any adult that wants to join.
What is included in your membership?
- Socials with a speaker, where we bring and share food…. Not just ‘any’ food as the saying goes!!
- Open Social Meetings for all (also non members) including an expert speaker on an interesting topic
- Occasional groups on request e.g. Beginners Knitting, Digital Camera use and Using Facebook- Trips to places of interest, including some unusual ones and some of outstanding merit e.g. The underground sand mine at Lochaline and Kilmartin prehistoric glen.
- A Monthly Magazine from u3a Scotland
- u3a Scotland’s free Online short courses - eg creative writing, science or yoga.
- A large National Library of information and videos on topics ranging across subjects such as woodwork, language learning, to art subjects
• Our Local Groups currently including: Cookery; Art and Craft; Philosophy; Book Group
- Meet with others across Scotland in Online Groups and at Summer Schools
You are entitled to dip in and out of any groups you choose.
Our members have a large range of skills to share. The ethos of the u3a is that its run by the members for the members.. So for example the Art and Craft group sessions may be led by a member demonstrating for, and supporting the group. You can choose to be a participant or volunteer to lead something using your particular skill.

Wildlife on Mull
It’s you and other members who decide which group they want and we take it from there… So do consider coming and joining us. Maybe you have something you’d like to share and/or an interest that others would like to pursue with you. A group can be between 2 to 14 people.. Though we may have had larger ones! Anything is considered and all we need is you and your imagination to help us to grow!
