Welcome to Mull & Iona U3A
The U3A movement is a unique and exciting national organisation that provides life-enhancing opportunities. Retired and semi-retired people come together to learn together, not for qualification but for its own reward; the sheer joy of discovery. You don't have to be a professional or expert to start a group and after a lifetime of experience people often acquire skills they can share with others having a common interest.
Members are entitled to:-
Join the Interest Groups we run;
Join in our Outings organised from time to time.
Receive our own regular newsletter and the 'Third Age Matters' national magazine;
Attend courses run by Central U3A or undertake online learning provided by them or through their alliance with Open University.
Attend the Annual General Meeting;
The Mull & Iona U3A is a branch of the international U3A organisation based on Mull. The branch was formed in August 2015 and is run by an elected Executive Committee and volunteer Group Leaders. All activities encourage participation, cooperation, self-help and ongoing learning.
To see what goes on and meet some of the members, come along to one of our Open Meetings as a visitor. These meetings take place bi-monthly usually in Salen Church Hall, - you will be most welcome. (see schedule of dates, times and presentations on our Events page).
Some of our activities take place in members homes whilst the outdoor activities take place at various venues around the island.
If you are interested in joining or setting up a new group please contact Linda Littlewood via this link Contact
Group Membership: Activities are financed by an annual membership fee, currently £15, due from 1st August 2019 for the year 2019-2020. Membership Forms can be picked up at the Members Meetings or will be sent on request by the membership secretary, see the Contact page.
The membership fee of £15, pro rata if joining later in the year, provides insurance cover for group activities under the auspices of the Third Age Trust.
