November 2021 - Coast to Coast Journey
Our November Monthly Meeting was in Merchistoun Hall and the speaker was Blue Badge Tourist Guide Graham Horn talking about his Coast To Coast Journey.
In the spring of 2007, Graham set out on a journey, to walk the Macmillan Way from Lincolnshire to Dorset; 300 miles in 18 days.
This is the narrative of that journey, combined with lots of pictures showing some of England’s most attractive villages, hidden and historic gems, and the pleasure of strolling through the pretty countryside.
What we found out? Perhaps you are a keen walker who would love to walk 300 miles. In this talk we could do so from the comfort of a chair.
The Macmillan Way goes through wonderful English countryside, which is a delight to walk through in the springtime. We encountered canals and castles, a thatcher and a poet, oil-seed rape and topiary, and much more besides. He told us the stories of cattle and horses, an allotment holder and strange signs and mystery shoes.
We felt as though we had walked the walk with him.
