Registered Charity: 1188476
Welcome to the website for Horndean and District U3A where you will find details of our forthcoming meetings and events, as well as the activities of our Interest Groups. We are part of the University of the Third Age ('U3A') Movement, about which you can find information by clicking of the U3A tab at the top of this page.
Horndean and District U3A was started in May 2008 and now has just over 200 members. We hold monthly meetings with a guest speaker on the first Friday of every month in Merchistoun Hall, Portsmouth Road, Horndean. Details of our forthcoming meetings and speakers are shown on the Events page.
If you would be interested in other U3A Events both locally or further afield please see the latest South Central Network News Bulletin or contact Hilvary Robinson for further information.
Other local organisations, events and activities that you may find of interest can be found on the Volunteering and Learning tabs.
Please send any comments about anything on this website or suggestions for items to be included to the Webmaster using the Blue Bird link on the right of this page so that the site can be kept up to date and any errors or omissions rectified.
The running of our U3A is governed by our Constitution which was fully updated in 2015 to ensure that it complied with current best practice and legislation using the latest model constitution provided by the Third Age Trust as a guide. It was further amended in 2018 to revise the definition of Charitable Purposes in line with guidance from The Third Age Trust and again in 2019 to amend the maximum number of terms that members can serve in specified roles on the Committee.
