When Chimps are smarter than People
The Speaker at our September 2021 Meeting was David Gane who looked at subjects as varied as world terrorism and marathon times for the over 60s, and explained how our minds are "hard-wired" to give us wrong answers. He suggested ways we can recognise these misconceptions when they occur and argued that the world is in better shape than we think it is based on what we see and hear in the media. Much of David’s talk was based on the book Factfulness by Hans Rosling and there are other references on his website.
