Forest Town and District U3A Executive Committee

OFFICERS

Chairperson: Irene Brooks

The Chairperson has overall responsibility for ensuring the effective running of the u3a and compliance with any regulatory requirements.

Vice chairperson: Michael Lyall
The Vice Chairperson works with the Chair to oversee the running of our u3a and has a particular role in relation to member engagement. The Vice Chair will make sure that new members are supported and encouraged to be active in our u3a and provide feedback to the Committee from the wider membership.

Joint Business Secretaries: Janis Bye and Kay Toy

Our Joint Business Secretaries keep us legal and in order, they look after the Committee meetings and make reports and returns to various bodies such as the National u3a office and Charity Commission.

Treasurer: Sue Robinson - Assistant Treasurer: Jenny Vernalls

The Treasurers' have overall oversight of our finances and the production of our Accounts.
They deal with our monetary income, membership subscriptions etc. and payments for those groups organising visits, experiences, and trips for their members.

COMMITTEE MEMBERS

Groups co-ordinators Marilyn Redfern - Assistant Groups Co-ordinator: Sue Buchanan.

The Group Co-ordinators' role is to support our group leaders.
They are the “go to” persons for information and advice about interest groups and help to set up new groups and deal with room and venue bookings for groups.

Membership Secretary: Kathryn Cope - Assistant Membership Secretary: Halina Gaskell

The Membership Secretary deals with any queries regarding your membership and enrolling new members. Remember to tell them if you move house or change your email address or phone number!
The Membership secretary also submits a current list of members at the appropiate time to the organisation that distributes your TAM magazine.

Committee member - Win Wall

Win as taken on the role of Welfare Officer to liaise with group leaders and other members in order to identify individual members who might like some moral support.
Purchase and send cards, as is felt appropriate.
Keep Committee Members informed as and when it is felt necessary.

Social events sub-committee

The Social events team arrange and organise our events, holiday trips and days out (other than the National Trust visits which are organised by Ann Stanford), they also find our speakers for the monthly meetings.

Newsletter editor and assistant Website editor: Helen Riby

The Newsletter Editor is responsible for producing our monthly members newsletter which aims to keep you up to date with all our local u3a news!

Website editor and Beacon administrator: Bob Hunt

The Website editor is responsible for keeping our website up to date (a good source of information and news by the way) and also looks after our technical requirements.

The Beacon system is a secure online database we use for our membership records and communication between committee members and group leaders.
