Crediton in and Around

Website that draws together a vast amount of data for Crediton and surrounding area. Covers events, shopping, eating out and take away outlets, some interactive some not. Crediton Community Hub

In 2016 Crediton Town Team published a feasibility report, examining the possibility of building a new Community Hub for Crediton. The public consultations which followed showed widespread support for the project. Since then the Town Team has been busy behind the scenes, talking to local organisations and exploring various options for funding and sites.

They are now looking to recruit a board of trustees, with the skills, vision and commitment to move the project onto the next stage. ARTS & CRAFTS

Artful Devon
Three new arts and crafts activities started in September 2017 in Morchard Bishop. Other art activities are also on offer, including Painting group and Art Journaling. Art journaling is very therapeutic and gives you a chance to express feelings and emotions through colour, shapes and words. It's a healing tool. CODS
Join the local operatic & dramatic society to release your inner Judi Dench / Derek Jacobi (or any other fabulous performer). CODS is a very active and friendly Society, with something in preparation all year around. MUSIC, MUSIC, MUSIC

Crediton Town Band are looking to recruit more players. If you are learning a brass instrument, did sometime previously (however rusty) or even if you are keen to take up something new, please get in touch via their website. click link on right.(If viewing on a mobile phone browser the "Links" can be found towards the bottom of this page).

HEARTSONG in Crediton, run by Alison Whittall, offers a chance to sing harmony songs of love, peace, freedom and joy on the second Sunday of every month at Crediton Congregational Church at 7.30-9pm. The songs are all taught by ear, no experience necessary, and include Gospel, Harmonic Temple, Contemporary, Taize.

Redvers Ramble and other walks
There is a brand new footpaths leaflet includes five possible walking routes within and around Crediton, including the ever popular Redvers Ramble. The routes vary in length and difficultly and utilise footpaths within the Town, as well as those in surrounding villages. Whether you are an experienced walker or enjoy a country stroll, there is something to suit you!

Crediton Leisure Centre has plenty on offer for all abilities - swimming, fitness, dance activities, sports, martial arts, yoga ... Check their website for details (If viewing on a mobile phone browser the "Links" can be found towards the bottom of this page).

Flexercise class - 'part exercise, part dance but all fun'
This class takes place at the Moose Hall, Bowden Hill, Crediton on Thursday afternoons, 2-3pm, £5 per class. Linda the teacher will get to know you before adapting the Flexercise system to your needs. The Summer term continues until July 26th (no class May 31st). Circle Dance Want to do something different on Sunday afternoons? Then go along to the Moose Hall, Bowden Hill, Crediton every 2nd Sunday of the month for some circle dancing from 3 – 5pm. Just £4 to cover the hall costs. Men and women equally welcome! And you don't have to dance, you can just enjoy the music with a cup of tea. Click the link opposite for more details. Friday Dancing group meets in the Methodist Church Hall, Crediton, to enjoy Ballroom, Latin American and party dances. You don't need a partner, it's suitable for all ages and beginners and more experienced dancers are all welcome. More details from Liz Rafferty or phone 07850 100 465.

Fun Fitness for over 50s at the Boniface Centre, Mondays 2-3.15pm. It costs £5 for 45 minutes of standing or seated exercises, refreshments and a good laugh with friendly people. Qi Gong for health & wellbeing classes take place at St Boniface Catholic Church on Mondays, 10.30-11.30am. Qi Gong is the basis for Tai Chi and some of the exercises are done seated. In Colebrooke there are yoga (Monday 10am) and Tai Chi (Wednesday 10am) sessions led by Diane Shepherd. Classes cost £4 per session and beginners are welcome. Email Diane Shepherd or phone 01363 85051 for more information.

Yoga in Yeoford on Tuesday morning and Thursday evening with Esme Butterfield, everyone welcome, from beginners to more experienced practitioners. Crediton Community Transport
Helping people to get out and about if they can't use their car or public transport is too far away. OTHER STUFF

Memory Café
at Lady Mill's Centre, Deep Lane, Crediton every Tuesday from 3-4.45pm for people with memory problems and their carers. You can go along for a cup of tea and to reminisce, sometimes with songs, games and past-time quizzes. Email Carole cjwebb@creditoncoffee.co.uk or phone Brian on 10363 772657.

Parkinson's Café
People with Parkinson's and their carers meet locally once a month to socialise and exchange information and advice in a friendly gathering. Email Diane Silcock or phone 01363 775 235.

Sing With Us
at our Crediton "Singing for the Brain" group, run by the Alzheimer's Society - a fun, stimulating and social activity for people with dementia and their carers. The group meets every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month at the Boniface Centre, 10am - 12 noon. If you know of anyone living with dementia or memory problems, do let them know about this. Crediton Area History & Museum Society (CAHMS)runs the Museum in the Old Town Hall in the summer, monthly talks in the winter and throughout the year a Family History Research Centre and a weekly Archive Working Group. Talks take place in the Boniface Centre at 7.30 p.m. and cost £3.50 (50p for CAHMS members). Bridge
If you are interested in learning or playing more bridge the Crediton Bridge Club may be able to meet your needs. Duplicate bridge is played on a Tuesday evening and beginners/improvers tutorial sessions take place on a Thursday afternoon.

Mah Jong
Train your brain! Anyone who wants to learn this fiendishly-competitive Chinese board game can contact Geoff Jackson (megalops@btinternet.com). The group meets at Newton St Cyres, usually on the last Thursday of the month, 2 - 5pm. The charge is £2 per session, plus a £1 for refreshments if you want them.
