Sunday Lunches in 2022

November Meal
This was held back at the Post House at Whiddon Down We re visited here as the meal that had been held at this pub before had been very good. The 10 of us who attended were not disappointed as once again the entire staff of the pub went out of their way to ensure that we all had a good time and a very enjoyable meal. It was a carvery type meal (see photo of servery) all the food was cooked to perfection and the choice of 1 , 2 or 3 types of meat or Vegan option on offer provided us all with a good base for the meal. The veg selection was also very good with roast potato, swede, red cabbage, peas, parsnips and cauliflower cheese. The deserts offered were also very good. Thank you once again all the staff at the Post house .

October meal
The october meal was held at the Devon Hotel exeter, a carvery type meal. The actual meal was very good with all 16 members who attended being well satisfied with both the quality and quantity of the food provided, all had the normal convivial time with several members staying past the end of the meal to enjoy leisurely coffee's. The only problem encountered over the event was the roadworks taking place in exeter which meant that many of us arrived a little late for the meal, a problem that the Staff at the hotel dealt with very well.

September Meeting
This was held at "Belluno" in Newton St Cyres, we had visited once before with the Friday group and had a very good meal so we went back to try the Sunday Lunch. Everybody had a very good time and also a good selection of meals, ordering from the normal menu and also the set Sunday Lunch "Beef or Lamb". All were prepared and served in good time to the whole group (13 of us). Once again thank you to all the staff at Belluno for making it a very good experience. The meals were delightful and only a few of us had room for the deserts ( which are well worth trying, see photos to the side)

August meeting
This meal was back at the Devonshire Dumpling, we had visited here before and had such a good meal that time we decided to revisit for this occasion. We were not disappointed, the landlady had kindly decided that as we were in the middle of the current heatwave it would be far too hot for us to eat in the pub conservatory as normal and had set up two table of 8 inside the main pub and arranged for fans to assist in keeping us cool.
We were not disappointed by the meal, once again they provided an excellent meal to all 16 who attended, we can certainly recommend this pub as a place to eat, special mention being given to the mushroom starter, the whitebait starter (one of the biggest I have seen) and the veg selection including the best cauliflower cheese we have had lately. Regretfully the starter and main meal filled most of us up so only one brave soul had a desert (see picture). So once again a big thank you to all the staff and chef at the Devonshire Dumpling.

July Meeting
This was held at "The Post House" at Whiddon Down,it was attended by 12 members who all enjoyed a wonderful carvery style meal. The food was excellent with a large choice of vegetables all cooked to perfection, the staff were very attentive and were happy to assist a couple of our members who are slightly disabled. All who attended were very impressed and we will certainly consider holding another meal here. So stanks very much to all the staff at the Post House.

Junes Sunday lunch was cancelled due to the Jubilee celebrations causing a large drop in people wishing to attend but we will be back in July so .....

Mays Sunday lunch
Was held at the Lymington Arms out at Lam cross Wembworthy EX18 7SA. Although it is a small pub its staff catered very well for the 10 members who attended. The food was very good and the deserts were so attractive that many members who had not ordered one changed their minds.A

Aprils Sunday Lunch
Was held at the Countryman near okehampton, 18 people attended.

#And we are back
Sunday 6th March
The second sunday pub lunch of this year was held at "The Oxenham Arms"South Zeal. Twelve people attended, including a couple of new faces to this group. The meal was enjoyed by all and ,as always, a convivial time was spent talking and joking before, during and after the meal. The food was very good (can recommend the yorkshire puds) with the group plumping for a mix of meals from standard roast dinner to Nut roast to curry and fish and chips to cater for all tastes. The service from all the staff was very good and attentive and the food served well and all hot. Thanks to all at the"Ox" for taking care of us so well.

Sunday Feb 13th
The first Sunday pub lunch of the year was held at "The Devonshire Dumpling" on Sunday 13 Feb.
It was a very happy band of 14 Sunday Pub lunch participants who meet up at the Devonshire Dumpling for the first Sunday Pub lunch of 2022. A very convivial time was had by all, The pub staff were brilliant and served up excellent meals to us all with a very varied menu being offered and consumed by all attending. Only the bravest members attempted 3 courses and the deserts on offer were very tempting and filling. Many thanks to the chef and all the staff at the pub.
