paper and scissors activities 2022

2022 Activities
13th October
We looked at using Alphabet letters/ lettering/different scripts to make a collage.

September meeting
The theme this time was 'Postcards' and everyone made 2 or more and took some postcards home to make more. It was a very successful session - one to be repeated I expect.

August Meeting
A small group of 5 braved the hot weather - (32 degrees yesterday) and joined in with some cutting and tearing and sticking on Thursday. We looked to the Impressionists - old and new - for inspiration and the lovely results are attached. The Shalom Room at the Congregational was very cool.
We chose our images from a variety of impressionistic paintings. We had a discussion and demonstration of how to frame a picture using masking tape to keep the border clean - and if that failed then using scalloped scissors to cut away untidy bits - before placing on thick card and attaching it using double sided tape.
One of our member chose to frame a small section of the Degas painting and created an abstracted part of the painting using her own papers which she had prepared at home.

Jane has made some of the groups works into cards - not for sale - just to send to family and friends.

July Meeting
We had a select 5 attend our last collage group meeting - the themes to choose from were: Summer ....or An Experiment with Abstract.
Everyone chose to be led through some exercises to start the Abstract process.
One new member was only going to watch and have a cup of tea but the scissors and glue were too inviting.. and she produced her first collage.
We have been in discussion with the Welcoming Refugees group in Crediton and some people have been invited to attend our collage group as guests for a few months. We wait to see if anyone would like to come.

We have a couple of spaces available if anyone wants to give our group a go.. give me a call if you want to discuss what we do...07967137032....meanwhile - see some of our first attempts at Abstract Collage.

May Meeting
8 people attended this month - we did collages around the theme of 'When I was Ten - or Spring.
Please find attached some photos - lots of discussions about the kinds of activities we did when we were ten years old.Mostly very active - cycling, swimming, skating etc. not an electronic game in sight! Also memories of education /parents and siblings. People had searche the internet for photos of their homes and district when they were 10 - all collages were different - some black and white and some very colourful.

April Meeting
Six of us met up and we made a collage about 'holidays' (if we can remember what they are).

March Meeting Thursday 3rd march
we were working up a collage to reflect 'Our Morning'..some of us have peaceful mornings and some a bit hectic!

Feb Meeting 3rd
6 people attended the last Paper and Scissors group yesterday and we made our own maps out of collage material. I have attached some photos of work in progress and some finished work.
