Events

Here you will find details of our general meetings, which are held on the second Monday of each month at 14:15 in the Marchesi Centre, Windermere. The programme for each meeting is a short business meeting followed by a talk by an invited speaker and finally time for tea, biscuits and a chat with friends.

Other activities such as outings organised by our groups, study days and similar (to which all members are invited) are also listed here.

Christine Raafat

Christine, one of our u3a members, delivered a very entertaining talk last year on her first novel “The Will to Succeed”. This time around Christine will describe how she came to write this book.
Mon May 13th Post Independent Zimbabwe
Lorna Kelly

After years of bitter armed conflict, Zimbabwe became independent in 1980 full of promise and hope that the future would be one of economic prosperity, political freedom and a generally decent livelihood for all and that the nightmarish past of the colonial period was gone forever. One of our u3a members, Lorna Kelly, will describe what living in post-independent Zimbabwe was actually like.
Mon Jun 10th Bletchley Park Code Breakers
Ron Rutter

Ron retired after nearly 40 years in teaching and was Deputy Head of a successful comprehensive for his last 15 years. He was ordained in 2000 after several years as a Reader. His interests include reading (particularly anything linked to Bletchley Park House or France), cooking, travelling and socialising.
In this entertaining talk, Ron will speak about the work of Bletchley Park and its importance during WWII and mention the role of the women who worked there.
