History and Nature Walks

There is usually a maximum of 15 members for each event which includes guided historical walking tours in the County Durham and North East area and bird watching tours. These are mainly held outside and involve easy walking for short distances.

Some of our recent tours:
Bird watching in Derwent Country Park, Saltwell Park, and Rainton Meadows
Guided historical tours of Elswick, Gateshead, Gateshead Riverside, and Sedgefield

Bookings now being planned for 2024 include a tour of Bowes Railway Museum, an historical tour of Chester le Street, one of Newcastle Quayside and an exploration of trees. As this is an outside activity there are no events held in the winter months.

Details are sent out via email to members and can be found at the monthly meeting.

Out of consideration for all who are walking we do not allow dogs on u3a walks
