Braintree Area

Welcome to all in the Braintree Area

The University of the Third Age (U3A) BRAINTREE AREA, along with all other U3As, sets out to provide stimulating activities for those who are retired from full-time employment.

We have approximately 455 members with 44 interest groups both large and small, click on the 'Groups" link at the top of the page to see the range of subjects - we are sure some will be of interest to you.

We also have trips out to various historic sites and other places of interest organised by the Outings Team. Click on the "Outings" button to see information about future, and past, Outings.

General monthly meetings are held from 2.00pm to 4.00pm on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at the Bocking Arts Centre, they include:-
•groups and outings updates (information is also available on the display boards and members of the Outing Team and Committee are there to answer any questions)
•a speaker (look on the events list to see details of the speaker the day you are coming to the General Meeting)
•time to meet other members
•refreshments

Guests and visitors are welcome to come along to these general meetings and find out more about us and pick up information.

At our AGM on 18th April, Geoff Mead stepped down from the Committee. Geoff and his wife, Sheila were instrumental in starting the Braintree Area U3A in 2013 and Geoff is featured in the picture bottom right when Braintree Area U3A received the certificate of recognition of us being part of the UK Organisation of the U3A.

You will see from the top picture in the right hand column that a good number of members attended the AGM this year. June Thompson was elected as a new Committee member. For a full list of Committee Members go to the Committee page. You can send an email to anybody listed there if you have a particular question or query, or you can leave a message 24/7 on our mobile service 07938 982 183.
