Braintree Area

Welcome to The Braintree Area U3A (University of the Third Age). As with all other U3As we set out to provide a range of activities for those who are no longer in full-time employment. Braintree Area u3a is part of the u3a, a UK-wide movement of locally-run interest groups that provide a wide range of opportunities to come together to learn for fun. Members explore new ideas, skills and activities together. Click on any of our links above, or if you have a particular interest click on this Groups link and scroll down to see the range we offer.

GOOD NEWS!!!! General monthly meetings are restarting. The first meeting will be held on 15th September 2021 at The Bocking Arts Centre. Please see Latest news for details. These meetings are usually held from 2.00pm to 4.00pm on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at the Bocking Arts Centre. Guests and visitors are welcome to come along to the General Meetings. Please sign the guest book that is just inside the door on the right as you come in. Doors open at 1.30 so please arrive in time to meet friends and find a seat before the announcements start at 2.00pm The speaker usually starts at about 2.15pm. Please note: There will be no October meeting due to the Bocking Arts Centre not being available.

Finally England has moved to step 4 of their Lockdown Easing Road Map, which means that there is now no limit on how many people can meet indoors or outdoors. Some groups have already started meeting up outside, e.g. the Walking Groups, Scrabble and Digital Photography Group. Other groups are continuing to remain in contact via Zoom, Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger and by telephone. Some groups are now planning to restart their meetings. We will be updating members as group meetings restart and when general meetings will commence.

New U3A branding for 2021 on our website. I am glad to say that we now have our new branding from U3A Head Office on our website. I think it looks refreshing and fits in with our membership colour of yellow for this year. You will see this on your membership card when you receive it. If you haven't already renewed your membership or if you want to join our Braintree branch please have a look at the information on our Membership Application Form 2021
