Braintree Area

Welcome to Braintree Area U3A

The Braintree Area University of the Third Age (U3A), along with all other U3As, sets out to provide stimulating activities for those who are retired from full-time employment.

Anybody who is new to our website please be aware that because of Government Regulations the General Meetings, Outings and Group Meetings have been cancelled for the foreseeable future. We will be advising members when we are able to have meetings in person again. Please be aware this may not be until 2021.

We have approximately 500 members with 48 interest groups both large and small. Click on the Groups link here or at the top of the page to see the range of subjects. Once you have joined our U3A you can attend any group. Do please send a message to the Group Contact first to check details about the meetings and any questions you might like answered. There is a link on each group web page in the top right corner.

We also have trips out to various historic sites and other places of interest organised by the Outings Team. Click on the Outings button to see information about future, and past, Outings. Some will be rescheduled when groups are allowed to gather and travel.

General monthly meetings are held from 2.00pm to 4.00pm on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at the Bocking Arts Centre. Guests and visitors are welcome to come along to the General Meetings and find out more about us and pick up information. Please sign the guest book that is just inside the door on the right. Doors open at 1.30 so please arrive in time to meet friends and find a seat before the announcements start at 2.00pm The speaker usually starts at about 2.15. Look on the events list to see details of the speaker the day you are coming.

Groups and Outings updates are available on the display boards and members of the Outing Team will be there to take your details, either before or after the speaker, of any outing you are interested in. A Committee Member will be there to answer questions as well. Do chat to other members while you have a cup of tea or coffee, they can probably advise you who to talk to if you are not sure.

Committee Officers are listed on our Committee page You can send an email to anybody listed there if you have a particular question or query, or you can leave a message 24/7 on our mobile service 07938 982 183. Policies agreed by the Committee on Data Protection and Privacy are also available to view there.
