Poem No.7

Eternal Father

by

David Tebbutt

Eternal Father, cure Ray’s doubts
And keep the aphids off his sprouts.
Let weevil, codling moth and flea
Eat someone else’s mange-tout & pea.
Oh, hear me when I shout and cry
And send Ray a cure for carrot fly.

Make all his courgettes long and fat,
And neutralise the wee of cat.
Let not his spuds fall prey to blight
Nor rosebuds vanish in the night.
Oh, hear me when I cry to Thine
For those who “garden-blog“ on line!
