Using Microfossils to discover the Past
On Friday 22nd February at 2pm in Ruthin library 26 geology members gathered to hear Dr Wyn Hughes give his 3rd presentation on Microfossils. 
This time the title was 'Using Microfossils to Reconstruct Past Environments.'
A very complex talk with fantastic slides showing the many different types of microscopic foraminifera and what sort of environment they liked. When checking for oil, core samples are taken and the correct level for drilling for oil can be calculated by the types of microfossils that should be present if oil is found in that area.
Wyn has sent us the pdf which covers all his talk and much appreciated by myself as it explains all.
The talk was followed once again by refreshments and many thanks to Karen for the delightful cake.
