Plastics in the environment.

Plastics in the environment.

On Friday 25th ofJanuary 28 geology members attended the first presentation of the year. Group member Richard Thompson assisted by Tom Atwell was speaking about
Plastics in the Environment.
He explained the origin and development of plastics and their uses. The composition of the various types, who made these discoveries and when. The pollution of our seas, rivers & countryside and how plastic is getting into our food chain. This affects us all and it was a very informative talk, well received with many questions following. The photograph shows Richard and his different display of plastics.
Richard suggested that members brought 5 ideas how the problem could be solved to the meeting next month and this could be fitted in between Wyn's presentation and tea break. A pdf will hopefully be attached to the geology Website soon.
An excellent start to the year. The fee £2 covers £18 for use of the room in Ruthin library and any money remaining goes towards guides & non member speakers fees this year.
Thank you again for cakes/ biscuits supplied & help given in the kitchen.
