Avian Flu
As you are probably aware, Bird Flu is rampaging through many countries and thousands of birds are being slaughtered. It is spread by the wild birds.
DEFRA which covers England and the Welsh Assembly have issued a 30 day protection scheme. All poultry large flocks or just 2 pet hens must be kept in their quarters where wild birds have no access to their food & water.
I have notified the Chicken Group members but I expect that many other members have a few hens.
This is a very serious situation as once the virus gets a hold it is capable of mutating then it really will 'hit the fan'.
