October 19
October's Chicken meeting was just a small gathering as Anita was unwell and Michael away up north. We spoke about the lack of eggs produced and moulting. Gillian may need to re home her flock as they are moving out of the area. Sue is thinking of having a cockerel, well I have just the one, black with gold specks who would just love to have his own flock.
No sign of any outbreaks of avian flu at the moment but it could arrive at anytime. We discussed the problems and mess caused with moulting, feathers galore everywhere And how the hens need extra protein during this period.
This was followed by tea, cake and scones and shared with our partners who had been walking on our woodland track.
