Welcome to Alnwick u3a

Alnwick u3a is one of over 1000 u3as in the UK, which give members the opportunity to share many educational, creative and leisure activities. There are 1,057 u3as with over 450,000 members as at February 2021 but more are forming all the time.

Founded in 1982, u3a is a UK-wide movement of locally-run interest groups that provide a wide range of opportunities to come together to learn for fun. Members explore new ideas, skills and activities together.

MEMBERSHIP is open to everyone who’s no longer in full-time work.

Established in October 2000, Alnwick u3a has about 200 members and about 30 activity/interest groups.
Monthly meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at 2 pm and since September 2017 are at St Michael’s Church Hall, junction of Canongate/Walkergate, Alnwick. Meetings are again taking place, after a series of Zoom meetings replaced face to face meetings during the worst of the Covid pandemic.

Before we started to use St Michael’s Church Hall, meetings were held at the Lindisfarne Centre for many years.

Interest groups take place in a variety of venues, including St Michael’s Church Hall and members' homes.

You are welcome to come along to any of our meetings before deciding whether you wish to become a member. Click the 'Events' button at the top of the page to see a list of this year's monthly meetings, or click on the 'Welcome Pack' link in the list on the right for more information about us.
