Walks in 2018

January 13th: unfortunately, the planned walk at Kemnay had to be cancelled, so several members met instead at Aberdeen beach for a bracing walk along the prom, with a strong southerly wind at our backs. A smaller group continued on to the Brig of Balgownie and round Seaton Park, before returning to the city centre through Old Aberdeen and over the Spital.

February 10th: four members started off from Milton of Crathes on an overcast morning and headed westwards on the Deeside Way. The day soon brightened and we extended the planned walk to the outskirts of Banchory, before returning along the same route, where we were unexpectedly joined by a fifth walker. The River Dee ran full and clear beside us, and we even found a few clusters of snowdrops.

For a variety of reasons, the walks planned for March through to June each had to be cancelled, although the three members who carried out a recce in May enjoyed a lovely walk in the sunshine. As they made their way from Johnshaven to Inverbervie, there was a distant skirl of pipes from the band at Lathallan School, fine views along the coast, and an unexpected encounter with a mowing robot near Gourdon.

We hope to manage rather more outings in the coming session.
