Welcome to Alnwick u3a
Alnwick u3a is one of over 1000 u3as in the UK, which give members the opportunity to share many educational, creative and leisure activities. There are 1,057 u3as with over 450,000 members as at February 2021 but more are forming all the time.
Founded in 1982, u3a is a UK-wide movement of locally-run interest groups that provide a wide range of opportunities to come together to learn for fun. Members explore new ideas, skills and activities together.
MEMBERSHIP is open to everyone who’s no longer in full-time work.
Established in October 2000, Alnwick u3a has about 200 members and about 30 activity/interest groups.
Monthly meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at 2 pm and since September 2017 are at St Michael’s Church Hall, junction of Canongate/Walkergate, Alnwick.
Before we started to use St Michael’s Church Hall, meetings were held at the Lindisfarne Centre for many years.
Interest groups take place in a variety of venues, including St Michael’s Church Hall and members' homes.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP
The Associate Member Subscription is for people joining from u3as other than those in the North Northumberland Network (NNN as atBerwick, Coquetdale and Wooler). This is our fee (£27 from September 2023) minus the Capitation Fee (currently £4) which we pay based on our membership on 31st March. So from September 1st until March 31st the Associate Membership subscription is £23.
After 31st March until the end of the year (31 August) they are charged the same as an ordinary member, as the Capitation figure has already been taken into account for the first half year, so they would pay £13.50 like an ordinary new member.
Someone from the NNN who wishes to join us will be charged half of our normal fee - so £13.50 from September until end March and £6.75 after the beginning of April. The Capitation fee element is not taken into account.
