Surlingham to Norwich Linear Walk
Our March walk was on Wednesday 13 March. We set off from Norwich Bus Station on the 85 bus to Surlingham getting off at the primary school stop. We started our walk along mainly the Wherryman’s Way towards Norwich. One of the first parts of the walk was across some board walk that is due to be repaired and we could see why! We met the owner of a cottage who told us the whole path until you got to the church had been flooded completely recently. It was not too bad with regard to mud, just a couple of places. We passed the ruined St Saviours’s church and then St Mary’s Church. We passed through woodland and along some moorings and past the Water’s Edge pub. We walked along country roads, past the sewage works and under the A47 before arriving at Whitlingham Park which was lovely. We stopped for lunch at the cafe before continuing into Norwich and finishing at the Railway Station.
