AGM - You will have noticed that there was no Annual General Meeting held in 2020. It was due to be held in the summer of 2020 but of course Covid got in the way. No-one could have predicted how long Covid and lockdowns were going to last, but here we are in 2021 and, although the rules have been adapted, we are coming close to non-compliance if we aren’t able to hold an AGM by late spring.
The rules do allow for electronic virtual AGMs, but Thetford U3A feels that, because many of our members aren’t comfortable with the online approach, we would rather wait until we are able to hold an AGM the old fashioned way – with all members invited to attend in person.
At the last Trustees’ meeting in February, it was agreed unanimously that we would adopt this approach, so the plan is to hold the AGM on 23 September 2021 at the Carnegie to allow everyone to attend in person if they wish.
Of course, in the worst case scenario, that might not be possible, so we would then have to revert to the online option, but we are being very positive and hoping that we will all be able to get together again, hopefully long before then.
