Workshops

We have occasional workshops which run at different times throughout the year.
In the past year we have run workshops on Italian, Spanish, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage and Dance.

Saturday 21st May - Philippines Cuisine
This was our first Cookery workshop where some members of Shimna u3a were introduced to Philippines Cuisine.
We had such a rich diversity of foods to try and we were also introduced to information about the country.
Vilma, Joy and Virginia really gave us a superb insight into the beautiful foods of the Philippines.
The presentation of everything was lovely.
A huge amount of effort was put into planning such a special occasion for all of us who attended.
We now need to plan a visit to The Asian Supermarket in Belfast with our experts.
Sadly our efforts at Karoke were not so impressive but we at least learnt a little about Karoke and its importance in The Philippines.
Our menu included roasted pork belly, chicken vinegar, braised, sautéed noodles, shrievelled veggies and mong bean soup.
Our desserts were plantain banana roll and various rice based goodies.
A refreshing drink called Mix-Mix was also included.

Tuesday 31 January - Photobook Workshop
18 members attended this workshop at the Parish Centre.
They were given a step by step demonstration on how to create their own photo book using the Mixbook website.
Members were shown how to upload, position and resize photographs, create a layout, choose a background and add text and stickers. They were then shown how to order their completed project.
Jane and Frank also brought some completed photo books for the members to look at.
