Rutland

Health and Technology Project 2023-24

BACKGROUND
Based on a number of past conversations, we thought that some members of Rutland u3a might benefit from help with using their personal technology (typically smartphones or tablets) to help them access NHS services.  For example, they might be asked to take a photograph of a rash or injury and send this to their GP for diagnosis.  Also, patients are increasingly expected to book appointments online, and many appointments are conducted by telephone rather than being held in person.

STATUS AND PLANS
We surveyed members to establish their experiences of using technology in this way and provided a brief summary of the results in the January newsletter. We now have the names of members who are interested in attending the planned workshop sessions, which we hope to start running in June.

We are contacting a couple of the local GP surgeries to feed back results from the survey and to get their thoughts; all this will feed into our planning for the workshop sessions.
