How to join

What is Rutland u3a?

Rutland u3a is registered as a charity with the Charity Commission under reference 1171747 and affiliated to the Third Age Trust. We have about 700 members who participate in over 70 interest and activity groups. Most groups run cost free by members. For some activities, there is a nominal fee to offset the cost of hiring the venues. See the Groups page for details of all the groups.

Members receive our monthly Newsletter by email and a quarterly magazine Third Age Matters posted by the Third Age Trust. Rutland u3a also has a Facebook page.

Annual Membership Subscription (1 March - 28 February) £10.00 per person pa
Your £10.00 membership covers our franchise costs of £8.20 that we pay to Third Age Trust for a range of services and benefits including: a membership database, liability insurance premium, quarterly magazine, and Copyright licence. The remainder covers our discretionary costs, (mainly to hire Victoria Hall and guest speakers). All activity groups, social events, and Rutland u3a as a whole aim to breakeven on the year. Applications can be made at any time of the year

How to Pay

  • Online Banking: Rutland u3a, Sort Code: 40-35-21, Account Number: 91196812. Quote reference ‘New Member’
  • Bank Card: Pay in person at one of our monthly meetings held at Victoria Hall.
  • Cheque: Post your cheque made out to Rutland U3A with a copy of the application form (See below) to the Membership Secretary, 6 Harborough Close, Whissendine, Oakham, LE15 7PB.

For Rutland u3a, cash and cheques present practical and logistic limitations in contrast to the simplicity and mutual convenience offered by online payments. Please use the online banking service rather than cash or cheques.

Gift Aid
The Gift Aid Claim is a valuable income stream for Rutland u3a. We claim £0.25 per £1.00 subscribed by members who are tax payers at no cost to members. Do, please consent in the application form (See above) on your behalf and or a partner, if relevant.

Email addresses
Please include your email (and / or a partner, if relevant) in the application form (See above). We email the monthly Newsletter, but other than that, very occasionally. Also, we undertake not to share your email address with any other third party.

If you are unable to complete the application form online or print the form:-

• Printed forms are available at the monthly meeting at Victoria Hall.
• Alternatively, please post an SAE to the Membership Secretary (address above)
