Singing

Singing is for everyone! There are very few people who really cannot sing,
but there are certainly a lot of people who haven’t done any singing for a
long time. We have very experienced singers in our group but we also have
those who like singing but don’t feel confident. All are welcome! The strong
voices help the others to join in and enjoy our sessions. We have fun singing!
We have men in the group so please guys don’t be put off by the thought that
you’ll feel out of place.
What do we sing then? Our inspiration comes from the community choir
movement around the UK. Many of the people leading community choirs are
talented musicians and write great songs for their choirs to sing. Many of
these choirs are a cappella – in other words they sing without
accompaniment. That is what we do, and we mainly use the songs they write
or arrange, because they are just right for the sort of singing we do.
The most important thing about our kind of group is that it is inclusive, so
anyone can come and sing with us. We don’t use musical scores (although
some of us can read music) and we learn everything by ear. We do have
words provided for each song though!
We're a friendly group. Please come and give our kind of singing a try.
We meet every 2nd and 4th Friday in the month at Hallcroft Community
Centre on Randall Way from 10.30 until 12.15. Cost of the session is just
£1.50 to pay for the hire of the Hall.
