GENEALOGY (Family History)
What do you know about your grandparents or other family?
Where did they live, what occupation did they have and how many cousins might you have?
Where is that distant relative? Did they emigrate or perhaps their family could even live locally?
Our aim is to help each other to research into their own family history, build their family tree, explore the social history surrounding their family and pass on their experiences and stories.
We will discuss family research topics using traditional methods and online genealogy resources and help each other to troubleshoot brick walls and other challenges.
Group members will share experiences by providing help on “how to get started”, solving “brick walls” and help with internet searching and software, etc.
We aim is to give you the skills you need to start researching your family tree and to provide you with support.
The group is suitable for complete beginners through to the more experienced.
If you have an enquiring mind and you are happy to use a computer and the internet, then this may be a hobby you could find engaging and addictive.
This Group will meet at the Group Leader’s house (Gary Smith) in Newent starting on the 3rd of January 2023. The group will be meeting on the 1st Tuesday of the month, 10am - 12pm.
