Genealogy For Beginners
Group Leader George Christie.
The genealogy group, which has 15 listed members, continues to meet regularly on the second Wednesday of each month in the Glenisle hotel, Lamlash at 2.30 p.m. Each meeting is introduced with a review of a specific topic, for example 'Sources of records' and how to access them, with a practical demonstration and a hand-out on the topic. This is then followed by a communal 'brick-wall busting' session where all members contribute their knowledge to help each other solve problems with developing their Family tree. Future topics for this session will include 'Censuses', 'DNA and it's uses', 'Historical maps', 'Brick walls and Rabbit holes' and other items suggested by the members.
If interested in being involved please contact the Arran u3a through the contact page.
