Betty Rout BEM

On the 3rd October at Great Whitcombe Village Hall, Mrs Betty Rout who teaches and calls for us at the U3A Folk Dance was awarded a British Empire Medal for services to her local community of Shurdington and for making a difference to the lives of her Community.

She has worked over many years for the British Red Cross, W.R.V.S. Mothers Union, W.I. Shurdington Church and, of course, run her Folk Dance Class and helped with ours. The Lord Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, Dame Janet Trotter presented her award. Helen, Annie and Glynis from the U3A Folk Dancers attended the tea and the Ceremony.

We were very proud of Betty. And she is off to Buckingham Palace later in the year too!
