Welling U3A
Welcome to the Welling U3A webpage
Welling U3A is a relatively young and vibrant U3A which had its' first meeting in June 2013. We are located on the boundaries of SE London and Kent - a London Borough with a Kent postcode. We are a fairly small group which has earned a reputation for being friendly and welcoming. If you are retired or semi-retired, with spare time on your hands and a desire to stay active mentally, physically or socially, then look no further.
In ‘normal’ times we hold monthly meetings on the 4th Wednesday of the month in a church hall very near to Welling town centre and easily accessible by public transport from all directions. Twice a year, Xmas and in the summer, these meetings take the form of a social with food and entertainment provided. Speakers are arranged for the other months and tea/coffee and biscuits are provided. New members are welcomed, they can visit as guests for up to 2 meetings for a small charge which will be deducted from their membership fee if they decide to join.
We also currently have approximately 30 interest groups which, apart from Yoga, have all been setup and are run by our members. The groups cover a broad spectrum of interests ranging across literary, creativity, discussions, board games, walking, theatre trips, visits or just to meet up over a cup of coffee or lunch. Most of the groups are held in the member’s home, others need to use external venues depending on the activity and/or size of the group. If you decide to join us and you have an interest in which you would like to involve your fellow members you would be more than welcome to set up a group; also if a group is oversubscribed another one can be created.
We produce a monthly newsletter, available in print, or preferably by email, in which you will find details of upcoming events, reports about the previous meeting, visits, walks or other external outings, any administration or other business relevant to members.
