Cottingham u3a Garden Visit Group

On Wednesday September 7th the group visited Southwood Hall and Gardens. The wonderful gardens may have been seen by lots of our u3a members, but I would be surprised if many have had the privilege of a personal tour, by the owner Kevin, of this magnificent 17th Century Hall, and the gardener, Justin, of the beautiful extensive gardens.
What an amazing lovingly restored building, filled with antiques including more than 50 long cased clocks. Each room had us aghast with wonder and incredulity. Southwood Hall is a marvellous piece of painstaking restoration by Kevin and his wife (who also kindly supplied us with tea and biscuits in their beautiful front garden).
Not many know of this ’treasure’ in the middle of our village - well done and thank you to Kevin and Janet Barnes.
