VALUATION DAY
Have you got an inherited antique, a treasured or interesting object that you know little about. Have you bought something at a boot sale or in a charity shop which you think might be a bargain. Perhaps a picture and you want to know if it's a watercolour or a print, a ceramic piece with markings to the base which you want to ask about, or do you want to know if a piece is silver or silver-plate. In fact anything you want to know more about and can carry along on the day.
For our Chiswell Green u3a members only we have a Valuation Day booked for Monday 20th November 2023 at Park Street Baptist Church, 2 Penn Road, St Albans, AL2 2QF. This is a drop-in event between 2pm and 4pm.
There will be two or three valuers there on the day. There will be David Palmer - a freelance auctioneer who works at many auction houses around the country. He has been to our Antiques groups several times and also to our main u3a monthly meeting. You may also have seen him on such tv programmes as Flog It and Bargain Hunt. We also have Stephen Drake who is a valuer working at Batemans auction house in Stamford. As well as individual valuations,Stephen will be able to explain to you how to arrange for an item to be put in to auction (if that's what you want) or how to arrange a visit to your home to value a collection or house contents.
There will be refreshments available so come along, have your items valued and sit and chat to friends. You're welcome to come along even if you don't bring an item - just come along to see what happens , you can still have a cuppa and a chat!
