Meeting Summaries 2020 - 2021
The group has continued to meet monthly using zoom during this difficult time.
This helped in some ways as we had a couple of excellent zoom presentations from specialists. Eve Mullholand of Cumbria Wildlife trust told us about the work of Dynamic Dunescapes around the Cumbrian coast and Georgia de Jong Cleyndert the Marine Conservation officer explained the work on Marine Conservation Zones in our area.
Other areas that were discussed and researched by members of the group included the future of hydrogen in the energy supply, local recycling, local farming practices, work on nature friendly environments and flood management across the whole Eden River.
When considering these areas we covered actions at an individual level, Cumbria wide, national and international level so covered Cumbria's Local Nature Recovery strategy, the Agriculture Act (2020) and the build up to November's UN international climate change conference Conference of Parties - COP(26).
