Welcome to the website of Lincoln Bailgate U3A. From April 2024 the monthly meetings will be held at Our Lady of Lincoln Church Hall, Laughton Way, LN2 2HE
Lincoln Bailgate U3a serves central Lincoln and surrounding villages. We meet just off Nettleham Road, in "uphill" Lincoln (See Meetings below).
The group was formed on 17th April 2012 and named after the Bailgate, the historic area of Lincoln in the vicinity of the City's magnificent cathedral and castle and where we originally met.
Our growing membership primarily draws from central Lincoln, but also includes members from all of Lincoln and surrounding villages.
We have around 80 members and many active interest groups. (See the 'Groups' page).
Meetings
We have monthly meetings, on the third Tuesday of each month, at . Most people walk to the meetings, although it is on a cycle and bus route and off-road parking is available,
Meetings commence at 1:30pm with a chance to socialize and usually last an hour an a half. The monthly meetings are also an opportunity for members learn about any developments and to plan the activities of the Interest Groups. There is generally a speaker. Talks/presentations start at 2.00pm and usually last no more than an hour. (Please see the calendar of events for further details).
There is a nominal charge of £2 per head for members and guests at monthly meetings which goes towards the cost of the speaker and room hire.
The various interest groups are held on different days of the week throughout the month. Please enrol in interest groups through the Groups Coordinator. (See the Groups page). If there is not a group of interest to you, please let us know or, even, consider offering to lead a group.
Membership
New members are welcome at the monthly meetings where it is possible to enrol. Otherwise, please contact the membership secretary via the contacts page.
Please use the contact forms to communicate with committee members. We are all volunteers, so please understand if there is some delay in our replying.
Guests
If you are unsure about joining Lincoln Bailgate U3a, you may attend up to two of our monthly meetings and/or a meeting of up to two interest groups as a guest in order to help you decide. All we ask is that you complete a contact details form first, to ensure you are covered by our insurance.
2024/5 Membership Renewal
Subscription forms for 2024/5 are available from the membership secretary or at our monthly meetings.
Please fill out the form and place it with your remittance (if paying by cash or cheque) in an envelope clearly indicating your Name and Address. Either send this to the Membership Secretary by post or hand it in at the next meeting. You may also pay by BACS. This is preferred, but please ensure your name is on the payment reference. You are also required to complete and sign the Data Protection (GDPR) section of the form.
