Groups
Bailgate U3A has interest groups covering a variety of subjects.
In this section you will find an indication of the interest groups currently available but this is always subject to change. All the groups are self-help and set up their own programmes and all members are encouraged to contribute to each group's activities, depending on their experience and capabilities.
Groups depend on the interests of members. Almost anything is possible with sufficient enthusiasm.
Meetings may be held in members' homes or at a suitable meeting venue, usually on a fixed day, or days, each month. Some groups may hold events that involve outings such as theatre visits, visits to historic buildings, businesses, gardens etc.
Click on the links below for details of Bailgate U3A's current activity/interest groups. Potential members can also obtain more details on these activities from the Bailgate U3A Activity Groups Co-ordinator at our monthly meetings, or by enquiring via the Contact Page.
KEY:
Groups with a YELLOW background are new.
Groups with a GREY background are full.
NB Should a group be full and not accepting new members there may be enough interest to start a new one on a similar subject, so do ask!
NOTES: How to become a Group Convenor
A description of a proposed interest group needs to be discussed with the Groups Co-ordinator or someone on the committee, who will almost certainly match your enthusiasm! Confirmation of interest within Lincoln Bailgate U3A will be sought and if it is sufficient, then a suitable date/time for an initial meeting of the group will be arranged. (As far as possible, the date/time will be chosen to avoid clashing with other groups.)
If you feel that you can contribute by being a group convenor, please discuss it with us. You may be able to tackle something which you have not previously tried, and no one ever knows what they can do till they try. You may have some experience or a special subject or interest which you could share: there are certainly people waiting, eager to learn. There is also a lot of help available to you not only within Lincoln Bailgate U3A but also by way of resources from the U3A central office.
