It is approximately 60 pages, half text, half full colour illustrations and takes a light-hearted view of the biological activity to be found there. Deliberately, the content derives entirely from the author's own garden in Wye and includes familiar plants seen in an unfamiliar way, some unusual plants, a celebration of bees including not only the honey bee but bumblebees and other less well-known ones, too. The last part of the book deals with other sorts of insect and, too, some of the more whimsical aspects of this garden, which the author considers essential for a sense of perspective.
