Ashford, Wye & District

We arrange coffee mornings on the 4th Wednesday of most months at Repton Connect Community Centre, Repton Avenue, Ashford, Kent TN23 3RX the to which all members are invited.

Please note contrary to previous advice, that anyone parking over two hours in the Waitrose car park is liable to a fine.

Individuals who are not members of Ashford, Wye & District U3A, who wish to attend coffee mornings as visitors should first consult the Visitors Policy.

These meetings give an opportunity to meet members attending a variety of courses and to exchange ideas and experiences.

At our monthly coffee mornings we provide a collection box should members wish to support local charities . For the remainder of 2019 these are:

  • Wyvern School for Handicapped Children
  • Porchlight for Homeless and Vulnerable People
  • Guide Dogs for the Blind.

As well as events organised by our own U3A, this page also includes events in the South East organised by the national organisation, The Third Age Trust. This page also features some non-U3A events which the Committee wish to advertise, such as events involving many U3A members, or supporting particular good causes. These events are categorised as 'Other'.

When booking trips, please remember to provide a SINGLE CHEQUE for each trip you wish to book, not forgetting to put the NAME OF THE TRIP on the back of the cheque.
Your cooperation would be greatly appreciated.

Wed Sep 11thOutingVisit to The Tower of London

As a royal palace and a secure fortress the Tower of London was probably being used for the secure storage of the monarch’s most treasured possessions since its earliest years. Construction began in the reign of William the Conqueror (1066-1087) and continued through the centuries until the reign of Richard 11 (1377-1399). Apart from the draining of the moat the medieval defences remain unchanged to this day.

Your entrance fee is included in the trip total and gives you access to the many visitor attractions including the Crown Jewels, the White Tower, the Medieval Palace, the Fusiliers` Museum and many more throughout the Tower precincts.

There is a restaurant on site and two snack kiosks.

Total cost for the day £35. (This increase on the price originally advertised is due to the Tower of London increasing their prices).
