AVALON NETWORK

https://u3asites.org.uk/south-west/page/28956

Camelot together with Chard & Ilminster, Crewkerne & District, Martock & District, Somerton and Yeovil, make-up the Avalon Network of u3a local groups. Avalon is one of 15 such groupings in the South West, which meet regularly with the intention of sharing ideas, helping each other solve problems and organising joint activities.

Members can learn more via the link, which can be found on this page.

Reciprocal Arrangement

This arrangement only affects the following five organisations of the Avalon Network:
Chard and Ilminster u3a, Crewkerne & District u3a, Somerton u3a, Martock & District u3a and Camelot Area u3a.
Please Note: Yeovil u3a are not included as their membership structure includes ALL costs.

Within the arrangement, members may join one or more of the interest groups of any of the above u3as, subject to availability and with each organisation’s own members generally being given preference. The reciprocal arrangement, means that visiting members will NOT be required to pay more than one annual subscription. Such that they will be obliged only to pay costs associated with the individual interest groups they join.

To take advantage of this arrangement a visiting member must contact the leader of the group they wish to join and ask if they are able to join the group. Visiting members will be required to show their membership card when attending the groups meeting.

It is an insurance requirement that all persons attending groups are u3a members. If a membership card cannot be produced, the visiting members should be treated as a prospective member.

A prospective member is someone who wishes to try out groups before joining. A prospective member can have two such taster sessions. In this event and in line with our insurance policy contact details must be recorded by the group leader.

Where there is no reciprocal arrangement with a neighbouring u3a (such as Shepton Mallet, Wells, Sherbourne, Yeovil etc..) visiting members may apply to join as associate members, normally at a reduced membership fee and will be required to show their membership card when joining.

For Insurance purposes, members may attend monthly meetings as guests but will be required to pay a guest fee as applicable.

Further details including a list of interest groups can be found via the link on this page titled "Reciprocal Agreement."
