Salisbury & District

Welcome

Welcome to Salisbury & District u3a.
We are a community of people no longer in full-time employment that teaches and learns together while enjoying social interaction. The ethos of the u3a movement is reflected in its motto: "Learn, Laugh, Live". There are now over 1,000 u3as in the United Kingdom and many more worldwide.

‘u3a’ means 'University of the Third Age’ where the 'u' represents the university of life, not formal studying. Salisbury & District u3a was founded in 1987 - one of the earliest as the first UK u3a was set up in 1983.

We hold Monthly Meetings at the Methodist Church in Salisbury from 10am. Enjoy a coffee or tea and a chat, then enjoy a Speaker presentation at 10.30.
We also run 50 or so study groups and organise outings to places of interest.

Please browse our website for a flavour of what we are about and what we offer to our members, and check the Events page for details of the Monthly Meetings.
We also publish an online issue of our magazine, The Arrow, every two months.

Members of other u3as can become Guest Members of Salisbury & District u3a by quoting their existing membership in their application. Guest Members can join our Groups, space permitting.

Each u3a is run by a Committee, elected by members. Meet our current panel.

Like most u3a groups we are a registered charity and affiliated to the Third Age Trust. There is a national website that gives more information about the organisation and its activities, nationally and regionally. There is a link to this and other useful sites in our Links page.
