Don't forget that we have a list of local contractors and workmen who have been recommended by other U3A members. Look in the newsletter for details or use the Contacts page to email a committee member.
Do you have a note of your mobile phone’s unique serial number - just in case you lose your phone or it gets stolen? Check the link below to see how easy it is to make a note of this.
General Links | ||
Mobile Phone | Should your phone be stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them the code. They will then be able to lock your phone so even if the thief changes the Sim card it will be totally useless. Read more by following the link.
Action for Deafness | Action for Deafness are offering lip reading lessons in Haywards Heath (no longer in Horsham unfortunately) Lip reading helps people who have a hearing loss and find conversations challenging. The lessons help people to understand visible and non-visible language and in knowing this information massively increases their confidence. More information is available at http://atlalipreading.org.uk.
HDC Health Walks | This is a link to the Horsham District Council site of Healthy Walks. Fun, free, family friendly walks led by volunteers to download and print. No need to book, just turn-up. Health Walks are aimed at beginners and those with long term health conditions. Typically under 90 minutes over easy terrain and accessible for most people. Level 2 and 3 Walks are longer, more strenuous and may include hills and stiles.
Horsham and Shipley Community Project | They are a vibrant local organisation which believes that age is no barrier to fun, fitness and social interaction. Their wide range of activities aim to help create a happy, healthy and involved local community.
Horsham Bridge Club | We are always pleased to see bridge players, whether members or visitors, and try to ensure a varied programme to suit all standards.
Horsham Geological Field Club | We have over 50 enthusiasts from all age groups and walks of life. The Club's programme includes monthly lecture meetings on a wide range of geological and related subjects. We meet in room 'Maths 1' on the first floor of Forest Community School, Comptons Lane, Horsham, West Sussex, RH13 5NW (OS map 187, TQ187302) on the second Wednesday of every month except August and December, at 7.00 for 7.30 p.m.
Horsham Green Gym | Horsham Green Gym is an independent volunteer nature conservation group run by its members, with support from Horsham District Council. They work at various sites in and near Horsham, West Sussex getting exercise and fresh air while improving the local environment, learning new skills and making new friends.
Horsham Green Spaces | Would you like to make a difference to your local parks or countryside? Follow this link to details on Horsham Green Gym, Gatwick Green Space, in Bloom and also Volunteer Groups for Open Spaces in Horsham.
Horsham Organ and Keyboard Society | We must be doing something right since this year we celebrated our 37 years and, if anything, the membership is just about holding steady which is more than many other clubs. Maybe it's because there is always a warm friendly atmosphere on club nights giving some idea of how much trouble is taken each month to get things just so and, of course, a lot of thought is given before bookings are made. Look at the website and you will see the planned performers, varied and always interesting. The icing on the cake at any Horsham concert is that just out of sight is a well stocked bar!
Scottish Country Dancing | The Horsham Scottish Country Dancing Club has been in existence for many years and members enjoy an informal evening of social dancing. They meet every Monday except Bank Holidays from September to May at the Millennium Hall, Crawley Road, Roffey, Horsham from 8.00 - 10.00pm. A charge of £3 an evening is made.
Theatre48 | Theatre 48 has some details on the internet but its main link uses Facebook. Don't let that put you off phone them on 01403 563299.
Walking in Sussex | Free walks for you to download and print.
