Do you have a note of your mobile phone’s unique serial number - just in case you lose your phone or it gets stolen? It may be on the sales details. To check your mobile phone’s IMEI (serial) number, key in the following five digits on your phone:
A 15-digit code number will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your phone and you should write it down and keep it somewhere safe. (Don’t forget where!!) It is nothing with the telephone number.
Should your phone be stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to lock your phone so even if the thief changes the Sim card it will be totally useless.
You probably won’t get your phone back but at least you will know that whoever stole it cannot use it or sell it. If everybody did this, there would be no point in stealing mobile phones.
