Derby

Annual Report 2018

2018 was a successful year for the Art Appreciation group. We visited the Derby Art Gallery twice. On the former occasion the Senior Curator of Fine Art Lucy Bamford introduced us to the exhibition of the work of Marion Adnams, and on the latter occasion the Curator of Visual Art Matt Edwards introduced us to the exhibition of the collection of A E Goodey containing pictures of Derby in the early twentieth Century. We also visited the Djanogly Gallery at Nottingham University and heard about some contemporary research.
In our meetings in the Friends Meeting House members of the group gave excellent presentations about Anton Pieck, Contemporary African American Artists, Katsushika Hokusai, Paul Klee, Art of the Faraoes and War Artists.
New members have joined us during the year, but the room is a fair size and we can still find space for more.
