202310 - Two Tree Island

WILDLIFE: Thursday 12 October 2023 - Visit to Two Tree Island, Leigh-on-Sea

A nice sunny day if not a bit nippy.

Considering the drizzly weather on Thursday we made the most of the day I think. Originally I was visiting Sandylay and Moat Woods at Great Leighs. As it would take 43 minutes to get there and the condition of the roads I thought it would be safer to stay nearer home so we went to 2 Tree Island.

The rain did stop and the sun tried to shine. There is a lovely hide overlooking a lake of little islands and an abundance of wild fowl.

Our sightings were: Brent Geese, Avocets, Crows, Red Shank, Black Tailed Godwit, Turn stones, Egret, Knot, Shelduck and a Wren.

From there we lunched at the Golf Balls Café. As we left it started to rain again.

I hope those of you on holiday have had a nice time and look forward to seeing you all next month, which will be our last before that "C" word as we are going on the Winchester coach trip.

Best wishes Janet
