Welcome to Derby U3A

Welcome to Derby u3a

Are you no longer working, or working part-time?
Looking for something fun and interesting to do?
Want to learn something new or develop an interest or hobby?
You can do all of these things with Derby u3a!

What is the u3a?

Derby u3a belongs to a national network of over 1000 u3as, which all operate with the support of the Third Age Trust. We are run entirely by our members for our members on a voluntary basis, sharing our interests and skills. In Derby, we currently have around 450 members and around 40 different groups and activities - everything from quizzes to psychology, and archeology to table tennis. We welcome ideas for new groups too. Go to Groups to see all the groups on offer for yourself.

Other activities

  • General Meetings on the last Thursday of the month, at which we have a talk on a topic of general interest. See Events for upcoming topics.
  • Outings by coach to places of interest. Recent ones include: Port Sunlight, Clumber Park, Southwell Minster and Workhouse, Manchester Museum Golden Mummies Exhibition.
  • Special events. We recently hosted an "Ideas Day" and we looking forward to our 40th Anniversary Celebrations in 2025.
